Affiliate Blog Feed & Viral Text Ads
Well, we are still working really hard to iron out all the bugs in the system and make the system as easy as possible to use. I have several campaigns to approve, but until the system is working 100% they will remain pending.
Unfortunately the other night an something went wrong with the affiliate blog feed tool and it went a little crazy tweeting updates. Fortunately not many members have found this tool yet so not much damage was done.
If you have set the tool up, and this issue affected you, all I can do is say I am really sorry and remind you that…
1. We are in “beta” so you should expect bugs to happen.
2. I encouraged you to keep your marketing separate from your personal twitter account.
Looking at the database, I can see that only a handful people were affected, so we got off light, but rest assured this will NOT happen again. The issue has been fixed.
What happened? The tool tweeted old feed items several times. I know that you can actually get tools that will tweet the same message over and over again to your followers, but that is not what this tool is supposed to do. Personally, I don’t think it is cool to do that.
Ok, moving on to some better news.
The “Viral Toolbar ads” are now available in your members area. Click “ad control” in your members area to access.
Here you can set targeted ads to appear across the network of QKR links. It currently only works with links shortened automatically by the affiliate blog feed, but will work on user shortened links as well soon. (i.e. links you shorten at the QKR website).
Let me explain how these ads work…
There are 2 ad spots on the toolbar. The one of the left is for all members, the one on the right always displays ads from the GOLD+ members account.
By becoming a GOLD+ member, you unlock control of a lot of the benefits of owning the site and this is one of them. As a GOLD+ member, you leverage all the traffic from every affiliate in your business centre; every shortened link created by anyone will display your text ad in the second spot (instead of mine).
Free members earn 1 credit to display their ads for every 2 (unique) loads of the toolbar. So for every 2 visitors to any QKR shortened link created by one of your affiliate feeds, your text ad will display on the toolbar.
Silver members (and above) earn credits on a 1:1 basis. i.e. for every visitor to any of your shortened links, you get your text link displayed.
Please log in and check these two new tools out. The affiliate blog feed tool is fixed, working and safe to use now.
